Makarfi to contest PDP presidential ticket


Former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) caretaker committee, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, has signified his interests to contest the presidential ticket of the party.

Makarfi, who spoke with newsmen in his residence in Kaduna, said he has concluded consultations with stakeholders in the party and has informed them of his ambition to fly the party’s flag in the 2019 presidential elections.

The former governor of Kaduna State said he is qualified to seek the party’s nomination adding that he is better placed to rule the country given his experience in both the public and private sectors.

He said the PDP has been helped to return to governance at the center as the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has de-marketed itself through poor performance.

The former governor of Kaduna State said he is already s ready to work with whoever will assist in the task of nation building.

Former Vice  President, Atiku Abubakar, former governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido and former governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke are among those who have so far signified their interests in gunning for the PDP ticket.
